Little bit of abstraction on this one...
it's a marble, that's one my sisters necklace, shot it when it was on the table and editted it. I was just doing some things in photoshop, because i really dont know the program and i found the 'smudge' tool, this is the result! please give some crits!

Well if you are going to manipulate the photo...post it in photomanipulation...not photography.

Also while I understand what you were trying to achieve...just taking a tool or filter and 'going at it' kinda cheapens the whole work. Spend some time, learn the tools, and make concious decisions in using them and just settle for an happy accident, and you will turn out works much better than this.

Granted, the color scheme is very alluring, but in all your smudging you blurred the hell out of it, making for an eye straining composition. I wounder what the original photo looked like? perhaps it could have been better if left alone....

wysiwyg, i do not really agree with you, (not about the wrong category...) but you said that i should use some tools, learn them and settle for a happy accident, well this IS a happy accident! and the original isn't that good, it's just a marble...

And a marble can be quite interesting if shot right..

Personally I think the sense of depth have been reached, Nice try, need more highlights and shadows to achieve volume, a more sharper edges.... Nice try!
